Renala is an asari matron working at Redrock Agency.
Appearance
Her skin has a sky blue color. She has no facial markings. Her crests have a bit rough, but symmetrical, texture. Renala is a matron, and looks the part, some skin on the sides of her face having a bit of a texture similar to the crests. Furthermore, she is not an exceptionally tall asari, standing only at 166cm / 5'5".
Background
Renala was born and grew up in a small town a few hours' skycar drive from Serrice on Thessia to two asari parents. Institutions for primary education offered it's bullying due to the prejudice and stigma of pureblood asari, of course. She had a few friends, however, so she wasn't reclusive and introverted; most of them were purebloods. She did over averagely in primary and secondary education, and studied at a university in Serrice.
To her parent's dismay, the static and calm Thessia life bored her as she got of age. Sixty and out of her parents' house, she went out to see the galaxy, taking many jobs from bar-tending to freelance mercenary work, the latter mostly security. She and her parents didn't see eye to eye for almost her entire maiden stage, and they barely talk to this day even.
Eventually, the matron days were around the corner and the compulsion to settle down had begun to set in. Renala dusted off her ancient university degree and took a few more years of study to refresh it and add to it with money saved up during the later maiden years. It was going well at first: she had a bondmate, with whom she fathered a daughter; she knew it was harder growing up pureblood, but them two of them wanted a child to call their own, regardless of what stigma is attached to it. She would be there for her kid and help her through the worst of it, she convinced herself.
Raising a child turned out to be a short-sighted decision that didn't go as expected. Her bondmate often accused her of being a bad influence on their daughter, which she kind of was; even teaching the kid biotics very early - even by asari standards. An incident Renala, of course, got the blame for pretty much marked the end of it, and an asari equivalent of a divorce followed. Renala still cared for her daughter though, and they promised to still keep in touch.
She quit her job and wanted to just get away for a while before she would give the matron's life another consideration. Not being a maiden anymore, she decided to stick to a middle ground. Settling down somewhere, while also looking for something to do with her life for the time being. First stop, Aite...
== Combat / Skills Her biotics are powerful enough to get the job done, but is not exceptional for an asari past 300. She’s best at Warp and Throw, and decent at Stasis (not bubble). Her barrier and singularity are alright, but the former’s bubble has a limited radius of about 1.5m and is not good at blocking heavier objects. It also uses more energy than it's worth. Her singularity might make people stumble or be exposed out of their cover, but it’s not inescapable for someone with a hand/foothold and/or some physical strength. The latter two abilities are especially bad after decades of disuse during her early matron stage. Her technical abilities are not useful in combat, but she can crack into security systems or intrude into a network. As for weapon skills, she is adept with SMGs and pistols, but not that good with heavier weapons.
