Description

The Freedom Falls Spaceport is unusually large and well-equipped for a town of its size. This, combined with Freedom Falls' reputation as a safe haven on a world sorely lacking such means that it is a very popular stopping stopping point for ships travelling through the Phoenix Massing, and a hub for trade. The spaceport contains a large number of indoor hangars along its outer 'ring', as well as open landing pads in the center for ships too large for - or unable to afford - indoor hangar space. The spaceport is, by all appearances, the most well-defended location in the town, possessing a series of watchtowers equipped with anti-aircraft cannons as well as a single GARDIAN laser turret capable of obliterating encroaching vessels and intercepting hostile attacks. Unlike the hospital, which is ran directly by the Syranis Foundation, and other city services like plowing, garbage collection and utilities, which are handled by contracted companies, the spaceport is administered by a private company owned by Matriarch Syranis, an arrangement that dates back to Freedom Falls' growth boom, during which the spaceport grew beyond the Foundation's ability to administrate directly. The spaceport maintains close ties with the Freedom Falls Militia - most of their security personnel are pulled from the militia part-timers. While not technically part of the Foundation, the spaceport administration still ultimately answers to the Matriarch.
