History
Early Life
Vas had a troublesome childhood, to say the least. His mother died during due to complications during child-birth, leaving him with only his father for guidance. His father was never a bad man, he did what he could for Vas, but being a single parent he wasn't around as much as he would have liked. His father was a drone operator and a pilot. A 'finder', you could say. He spent his day finding people for the highest bidder, which unfortunately was mainly the Russian mob. They paid him to find those that crossed them, including snitches, officials that refused bribes, and all sorts of seemingly innocent people. He didn't like it, but the money was good.
He grew up in a decent apartment just outside of Moscow, but with his father working so much, he had to make his own way in life. Unfortunately, children can be terrors. He would often find himself in fist fights with the other kids after school for numerous reasons, them making fun of his father being away so much, and his mother dying so early. He soon grew a reputation for a scrapper after he was ganged up on 3 others his age, but more notably the aftermath. He came out of the fight with a broken nose and a broken rib himself, but his assailants came out with broken noses, arms, and ribs. Not many would face up to him after that.
Though his father wasn't around much, when he was, he was sure to spend time with the boy. Through his own life experiences, he taught Vas loyalty and respect, along with common sense and reading between the lines. There were many a night when he would even teach the boy about electronics and basic engineering. Vas' father was proud of him, even if he disapproved of his scrappy nature and his tendency to be a bit of a hot-head. It took years of careful training to get Vas to fully subside his anger.
Vas spent years following his father's tutelage. He was left manuals and books about drone engineering and robotics, which after school he took to studying happily, even into his teenage years. He was aiming to follow in his father's foot steps, even going as far as to sign up for flight school, something he'd been saving up for with his meagre earnings from working at the local butcher shop. His father was proud of him, but he worried for the lad. He didn't want him to get involved in his line of work. He couldn't help but encourage the boy.
Working for the mob.
At the age of 20, Vas graduated from flight school, and much to his father's delight, got a job for a construction agency, using a specialised reconnaissance craft to survey construction zones, but his paycheck grew when it came to light his experience with drones. He started operating the remote mining and excavation rigs. That was, however, until his father passed away. It was then that Vas fell into a depressive stupor. He became quiet and reserved, sinking into himself at every given opportunity. It eventually cost him his job at the site.
After several weeks of soul searching and trying to come to terms with his father's death, he was contacted by his former employers. The concept was easy; Find who we want you to find, and you'll be paid. Its what your father did before you, why not continue? After much convincing and the possibility of Vas acquiring his father's ship and gear, he agreed to work for them. He knew what he was getting into, though his father would never talk about just who he worked for, he was able to read the signs. It made him believe that he could be a good person and still work for the devil. He began working for the mob, finding rats, debt avoiders, and enemies of his new bosses. Eventually, he began to realise that he was wrong. He felt as his father did before him, but he was stuck.
That was until the Moscow Police Force cracked down heavily on organised crime. Corrupt cops were imprisoned, gangsters were tried, imprisoned, some even executed. Vas and many of his associates were told to run and hide, and never to rat. Vas was happy to do so, he had nothing else on Earth to leave behind. He took his craft into atmo, hitched a ride on the first cargohauler he could find, and off he went. Where was it going? It didn't matter to Vas, as long as he got away from Earth, and was able to start a new life.
And that new life lead him to Aite.
Life on Aite
Vas still had a bundle of credits left over from his life on Earth, enough to keep him in fuel and lodgings for at least a while. He mostly kept his head down, only poking it out to make his services known to local businesses and mercenary groups. He eventually gained contracts doing what he did best, survey and excavation using drones and his own craft. He quickly began missing his own life, much to his surprise. Not who he was finding, but doing reconnaissance work, flying and operating drones in search of things.
He was quickly run to ground after arriving on Aite though, after he received word that a group of bounty hunters were after him, hired by an unknown Alliance officer. Little did he know, Vas had personally found someone close to this officer, and they were never seen again. His past was coming to find him, but he wouldn't let it catch him. He looked to his only true friend on Aite, a demolitions and heavy rig operator he'd worked with for months, who was likely not entirely sane, for shelter. Before he left, he was sure to consult the one person he knew could possibly help him, Jason Wolfe. He soon fled to the wilderness of Aite, thanks to his personal friend, and went into hiding.
As he hid, he was sure to reach out to certain contacts, and get his hands on equipment. Drones, robotics, anything he could get his hands on to aide in his protection, all the while searching and researching his opponents.
He was gearing up for war.
