Vasquez is a tough-looking woman with olive skin and long black hair which is almost always tied up in a ponytail. A large scar covers the left side of her face, stretching over the ear, which is deformed by it, and out onto her cheek all the way to the mouth. A few smaller scars can be seen as well, but none as notable. Her brown eyes often betray the thoughts swirling beneath her exterior. A small chip implant is visible in her right temple. Vasquez usually wears a pair of old Alliance battledress pants, combat boots and a white tanktop or an old Eezo Credits concert t-shirt when not working. When working however, she wears a gray uniform vaguely similar to an Alliance uniform, and with the Redrock Agency logo in red. In addition to this she uses a stripped-down Kuwashii Visor. In combat she equips herself with a set of gray Ariake Technologies armor, and she wields a heavily modified Typhoon LMG.

Maria is, at 164 cm, a short woman, but a muscular one. She has short, blood-red hair, amber eyes and a light skin tone. When in combat she usually wears a set of sleeveless black Ajax Armor with dark red plating along with a matching combat mask. On her left hand she has a fingerless glove. She usually wields an M-451 Firestorm along with an Executioner hand cannon. A combat knife can usually be found strapped to her leg and a pair of fuel tanks may or may not be present on the back of her armor.

Vasquez was born in Lowell City, Mars, in the year of 2155. Lowell City, also known as the backwater of the colonies, was very uneventful. Her mother was a researcher at the Prothean ruins and her father ran a local pet shop. Linda's young years were filled with frustration over being stuck in such a place, and she left everything from family to education to boyfriend behind to join the Alliance when she turned eighteen. After finishing her training she served as ground garrison for several years, first on Terra Nova and later on Elysium, where she fell for Janet, who worked at one of the more popular diners in northern Illyria. The two spent about a year together before their relationship was brought to an abrupt stop by Janet's death during the Skyllian Blitz. Vasquez never completely recovered from this event, and during the coming years she would be transferred to space duty, eventually taking part in the Siege of Torfan. After surviving what is still known as one of the bloodiest battles in Alliance history, she was deemed unfit for service not long afterwards and was honorably discharged before taking up work as a gun for hire, first as ExoGeni security and later as a freelancer. It was during this time that she met Jason, and while things were never quite good, they took a definitive turn for the worse when she fell victim to an Ardat-Yakshi, and just barely escaped with her life. After many months of stroke recovery, Vasquez has now come to Aite in search of a new life as the boss and founder of the Redrock Agency.

Background

Maria was born in the northern UNAS in 2146. The region she grew up in was a poor one, never having recovered fully from the Second American Civil War, and life was not made easier by the fact that her grandfather had been a part of the secessionist forces. While the discovery of the Prothean ruins on Mars and later the formation of the Systems Alliance promised a better future, this was not the case for Maria's family. At the age of 17 she had already spent a lot of time doing whatever it took to provide for her increasingly ill mother after the father's murder six years prior. In 2163 she signed up for the colonization of a remote Attican Traverse world in the hopes of finding a better life as well as well as earning enough money to provide for her mother.

While colony life certainly wasn't easy, it was a vast improvement over Earth, and Maria found happiness for the first time in her life. In 2166 she had married, but after a series of unusual incidents and odd mortalities in the small colony, it became clear things were not quite right. In 2172, Maria's daughter was abducted by the corporation that funded the colony, and the efforts of the couple to find an explanation, or at the very least justice, were quickly shut down by the Systems Alliance. After her husband died under mysterious circumstances shortly thereafter, Maria fled deep into Terminus Systems space, drawing on her past to survive and eventually earning a reputation as a skilled, if destructive gun-for-hire.
