Zelyner was a wealthy hanar and secretly high-ranking member of the Guardians of the Kindled Flame in October 2185 hired Redrock for protection during an expedition to recover a Prothean data disc containing weapons blueprints. Zelyner turned on the security team after they refused to allow the expedition's Council observer to be killed so that the hanar could illegally collect the disc. Zelyner subsequently fled into the desert, but was ambushed and killed by a third party that was also seeking the disc.
