The dense forest gave their landing cover, but the trek through it to the AO took only a few minutes. Kalus's band of mercenaries had taken up residence in an old warehouse, one of the last surviving buildings in the war-ravaged colony. Jason gave the order that Renala and Kim enter through the main entrance, while the rest of the group circle around to get ready at the garage. No resistance was meeting them yet, so it seems so far that their plan — and Rellis' hack of the cameras – was holding.

Renala and Kim were the first to enter the building, and faced no resistance. Jason's team then opened the garage and the commotion from that gave them cover to deal with the reinforcements headed there. An unknown sniper threw a spanner in their plans by firing once at Victoria, pushing her back inside the garage with the others on that team. They subdued the remaining hostiles in the garage, but if they were to be believed, that still left six remaining in the building. That was a drawn out fight, where Renala sustained some gunshot wounds after being swept up in a signularity.

Jason, Renala and Zaylus were enjoying a drink the day after to celebrate a job well done when an asari stood up and started towards the bar with a gun in her hand. Jason was still at the bar when she raised it and ordered everyone to not move. She fired a shot off on Va'ynna, but a distraction on her seven caused the shot to miss, and Va'ynna managed to get into cover. The distraction turned out to be Rellis Darennon who was attempting a stealthy assassination of the asari using a combat knife. The salarian did not cease his attempts on the stranger asari's life, but Aylena D'Inea showed up to break up the fight using a biotic field. The salarian fled the scene. The asari then explained herself at gunpoint. She alleged she was hired by Darennon to kill Atana for reasons unknown to her, and that he betrayed her in the end by trying to kill her. The asari guesses this job was a distraction to get behind her back to kill her. Aylena pressed her for more information, and got the name Siveya T'Vezan out of her. None of this was making any sense, and when they pressed further, Siveya told them she was intending to destroy Rellis' organization from the inside in response to a murder that happened on Thessia decades prior. Jason and Aylena was uninterested in hearing more about the story, and the latter let her go with a serious threat.

Va'ynna was very shaken up by this, and she was left with questions about her role in this. Jason promised to get to the bottom of this matter. Jason reached out to Rellis afterwards, but he did not get a satisfying answer and he was then left without any actionable leads. Siveya has also not been seen again in Freedom Falls. Aylena negotiated a contract with Redrock Agency for a permanent security presense after this, as they had proved themselves more than capable.

Redrock Agency was approached by Rellis Darennon for a job to assault Kalus Security's headquarters. The reason given was that Kalus would end up being a danger to more than his men, as well as alleged shady activities. Redrock Agency succeeded with their job, inflicting minimal casualty upon Kalus' mercenaries, even if the turian commander was killed in action. They were paid 40,000 per commited mercenary.

It was not over yet, however, because a day later Rellis attempted to beat two birds with one stone by having Siveya attack Va'ynna while he would assassinate her immediately after. This failed, making Siveya miss the mark and fight off Rellis. After Rellis was chased off, Siveya explains her story and what she was doing, but admitted to not knowing why Va'ynna was chosen as a target, and the motivation for that remains unknown to this day. She speculated that it was a mere busywork order to keep her and Kalus separated.

Summary

The Pitch

Rellis Darennon made it clear very early that this was a mission of sensitive character, and that it was about single target elimination. Jason invited him to a meeting where he'd discuss the matter in detail.

I have observed your organization's presence on the extranet, and are willing to offer you a contract. I have a sensitive matter that I want taken care of, and I believe you are equipped to do so. Afraid I cannot provide any specific details here, but the nature of the contract is target-elimination with a potential opposition beyond the specific target.

Looking forward to working with you, and hope we can discuss the specifics of the contract soon.

Sincerely,
Rellis Darennon

The salarian showed up outside the Redrock Agency building as promised, and he was let into his office for the meeting. Before he could say anything, however, he made Jason sign an NDA. After that, he spoke more freely about the target. Rellis remained vague, but said that this turian was a danger to both his own and innocents. He also mentioned the payment they'd receive in the next breath. The job was then accepted.

Briefing & Travel

This was one of the first jobs Redrock had, and it snuck up on them before the new staff could be eased into their jobs. It was going to be a trial by fire, Jason said, and believed the team was ready for that. Jason gave them all the information he had on the job, and let them know about payment. There wasn't enough information given beforehand to make a very detailed tactical plan. He let them know how much of the payment they'll receive, and what Redrock will take of it.

Assault

The Sniper

The Redrock team discussed their next move against the sniper up in the former spaceport, and ended up with a plan where the bulk of them will push from the front while covering Kim's long way around. It resembled the tactic of their entrance, and this time too it appeared to work. The sniper did give the group pushing towards him a good fight, and even landed a few hits from his high ground. They were pinned down, but their push was the distraction Kim needed to get around. Even when all their heads were down, the distraction held for long enough to afford Kim to get up to the roof with him.

They confirmed the target was eliminated when they met up with Darennon at the LZ, but he could not ascertain the value of the data yet. They parted ways at the Freedom Falls spaceport after a job well done. The mercenaries working for Kalus has not been seen since by any member of Redrock Agency.

Respite

The others were still too focused on the remaining threat to obstruct him,, and that was the last they would hear or see of him for the time being.

Trivia

 • In the unused Eezo-plot that this is heavily based on, Rellis was and not part of the plot beyond the first event, let alone the central character he is now.
 • The name Urret is based on "Ørret", the Norwegian word for the European brown trout.
