Matriarch Tharele was the former leader of the asari research team that were studying the Orb of the Revelator, found on Di Yu IV. Over the years she was driven mad, body twisted by cybernetic growths and her mind turned into a conduit for the Revelator. She fought Redrock when they breached the inner chamber of the Sacrarium, killing Vaden and badly injuring Leah. She was slain by the combined efforts of the team, the finishing blow delivered via one of Ilyna's grenades, planted by Jason.
