After rescuing Va'ynna from the mercenaries at the farm ruin, Redrock Agency were unable to find out their client's motivations for asking for her by name. Jason and Victoria exhausted their leads, but they eventually met a dead end.
Sala Piros is still at large, and it'll be naïve to think that it's not a matter of time before she eventually gets around to following up on her threat.

Summary
"I could be in your town right now for all you know, smiling to you as I pass you in the grocery store tomorrow." |
—Sala Piros |
Renala managed to get position-tracking malware onto Sala's omni-tool, and despite its quick removal they got a nav point for the ruin where they found Va'ynna. Wasting no time, Jason and Victoria hurried over to try to catch the asari in her act.
As it turned out, the returned nav-point may have been deliberate. When the went into the bedroom, they found an omni-tool with a blinking blue light hanging on the underside of the upturned bed. It had a camera attached to it that seems to be watching the room.
When Jason approached the device, the light stopped blinking and an feminine voice started talking with them. She made no effort to hide the fact that she was Sala Piros, however, and she kept taunting Jason about his lack kf control of this situation.
After the "pleasantries" were exchanged, Sala offered a business arrangement. The capture of Wenera Leren in exchange for Va'ynna Atana's safety. Jason natuarlly refused the offer, but not before getting a picture and a name to work with.
Sala Piros did not seem scared of Jason and Victoria, and she kept her upbeat taunts up until she destroyed the omni-tool remotely. Renala was completely unable to recover anything from the charred husk of the omni-tool, leaving Jason and Victoria with no other options than to wait and see.
Crossed Paths
"How would you feel if a man with a gun asked for you by name in a town far from home?" |
—Wenera Leren |
It didn't take long for Jason to find Wenera Leren, who was staying at the Miner's Respite at the time. The asari was initially tense, but she was quick to open up to Jason after finding out that he's the closest thing she's got to an ally in Freedom Falls.
The asari could not say who her employer was, but she shared many details about her mission. She was investigating a murder in the salarian-ran city state of Raelos, the inland territory of the Derrai Union. The reason she was in Freedom Falls was to find the closest witness to the murder, Natalie Wood, in hopes that she'll shed more light on the motivations of the murderer.
This was a dead end in Jason's search for answers, and Sala remained at large. Va'ynna knows that, and it's a major contributing factor to her refusal to even set foot outside on her own. Sala seemed really cofnident that her appearance was entirely unknown, which is no longer true, so the advantage may not fully be on her side.
Next Steps
These are points that may be worth following up on, things that should have crossed our character's minds from writing the reports and the like.
- Ehanis was mentioned by Aylena as having spoken with Wenera before Jason met her.
- The OSD went via Ehanis, a taxi driver, and then Ilyna.
- Jason hasn't spoken with Wenera in the last two weeks.
